Downtown workers, residents and visitors can satisfy their literary appetites in the midst of the City’s lunchtime bustle when Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s mobile Reading Room returns to open a new chapter of reading, learning and fun in Market Square. The Reading Room in Market Square begins Tuesday, May 15 and runs each Tuesday through October 9, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Now in its 3rdseason,  Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Reading Room in Market Square invites visitors to sample a few of the great programs offered at the Library. Visitors can also build their own library for as little at $1 or $2, by selecting from an assortment of paperback and hardcover books. Proceeds from the book sale support Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s dynamic programs.

Special Reading Room Programming

Visitors to the Library’s Reading Room can release their inner bookworm and enjoy special book-related programming the second Tuesday of each month. Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh librarians will be on hand to lead book discussions and help select new reads. Additional programs will include “30 Books in 30 Minutes”, Salon Sessions, Cook Book Celebration with a local chef demonstration and more.

Every third Tuesday of the month, the Reading Room invites visitors to explore what’s new in technology at the Library. Library staff will demonstrate how to download free eBooks and audio books and provide details on the Library’s free foreign language programs —just in time for folks who may traveling out of the country.
