Stylebook: FGI Pittsburgh to launch Style+Tech Talks
Ever wonder what it takes for a fashion designer to transform a concept into a well-made, marketable piece of clothing?
Pittsburgh-based designer Kiya Tomlin will share practical advice and personal experiences at the launch of Fashion Group International of Pittsburgh provisional chapter’s Style+Tech Talks, a series of discussions about the business of fashion and its ties to technology.
On Friday at TechShop at Bakery Square, Ms. Tomlin, the designer behind the women’s ready-to-wear brand Uptown Sweats, will cover such topics as how to find a manufacturer, securing financial backing and other tips for success. She’ll also be joined by a venture capitalist speaker.
It will start at 6 p.m. with a networking session, followed by Ms. Tomlin’s presentation at 6:30 p.m. The event is $25, $20 for FGI Pittsburgh members and $15 for students. Information: Search for FGI Pittsburgh on Facebook or email email@example.com.
