Downtown Pittsburgh – On Friday, September 25 from 5:30 – 11:00 p.m., the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership presents the final pop up Night Market of the year. The Market will be one of the features of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Fall Gallery Crawl and to complement their programming will pay special attention to the theme “India in Focus.” The Night Market will spring to life in the parking lot at the corner of Penn Avenue and Eighth Street and will feature thirty vendors of hand-crafted goods and delicious foods.
Special entertainment occurring throughout the Market includes a special DJ set by Steve Hackman, Creative Director of FUSE @ PSO. Steve will feature a set of symphonic Indian mash-up of music pairing perfectly with a full evening of Bollywood and Bhangra tunes provided by DJ Soy Sos. Additionally, throughout the market, the Sanskruti School of Indian Dance and Music will entertain the crowd with several pop up performances of traditional Indian dance.
Hackman said, “I'm excited to explore connections between traditional Indian, classical, and modern pop/rap/electronic music- which is what FUSE @ PSO is all about.”
The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership has been producing Night Markets for three years, curating a creative mix of local artisans, crafters and food purveyors into a popular event that accompanies the Trust’s quarterly Gallery Crawls.
