In addition to the Peoples Gas Holiday MarketTM , located in Market Square, PPG Place and One Oxford Centre will offer free horse-drawn carriage rides, the free Fifth Avenue Place Holly Trolley will take visitors to all of the holiday hot spots around town. Small Business Saturday, November 28
Small Business Saturday, a program supported by American Express encourages shoppers to patronize local, small businesses during the holiday season, with a special emphasis on Saturday, November 28. Downtown Pittsburgh’s independent retailers offer a tremendous variety of high-quality, unique merchandise. Many Downtown Retailers are offering specials not only for Small Business Saturday but for the entire Holiday Season. The PDP has collected a list of these specials and is promoting them through the Downtown Pittsburgh Holiday website.
To support the many small businesses in Downtown, the PDP has developed a new shopping directory that is available both in hard copy at many locations around Downtown and as a .pdf available to download and print from the PDP’s website. The guide is pocket-sized and provides a map to help shoppers find their perfect holiday gifts.
According to Adele Morelli, owner of a women’s clothing store, “Boutique La Passerelle has been committed to the Downtown shopping scene for over five years. There have been a lot of changes in that time - many businesses have come, a few have gone. Who remains? Over 100 small businesses working hard every day to make Downtown a special place to be. Why go to the mall when you can wine, dine, pamper and shop within a few blocks AND support the local small business owner who is vested in the city we all call home.”
