Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership Offers Incentives to
Patronize Market Square Businesses
Pittsburgh, PA—It’s been a rough winter for most businesses, but particularly difficult for those in the middle of a significant construction project—such as the one happening in Market Square. To thank regular customers of the establishments in Market Square, encourage new ones and reward those with the most creativity, the PDP is launching a unique marketing campaign to incentivize Pittsburghers to support Market Square merchants during this challenging time. Using social media and limited advertising, the PDP’s “March Market Square Marketing Blitz” offers two ways for customers to win $25 gift cards to a merchant of choice:
1. Make a purchase at any participating merchant in Market Square and be entered in a weekly raffle drawing.
2. Take a photo of themselves with a purchase and a Market Square bumper sticker (available at participating merchants) and send it to the PDP via email (pdp@DowntownPittsburgh.com) to be posted on Facebook (www.Facebook.com/DowntownPittsburgh) and voted on by other fans. Sample photos are posted on the PDP’s Facebook page in the “Sample Market Square Campaign Photos” album.
“While all of the businesses in Market Square have remained open during construction, there is the perception that either places are closed or are difficult to get to, and that’s not the case,” said Michael Edwards, president and CEO of the PDP. “This cross-media campaign is designed to encourage shopping and to generate excitement about the grand reopening of Market Square in a few months.”
The campaign will run March 1 – 31, 2010. Details and a list of participating merchants are available at www.DowntownPittsburgh.com.
