DANCING IN THE SQUARE BRINGS BALLROOM DANCE TO DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH

DANCING IN THE SQUARE BRINGS BALLROOM DANCE TO DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH
FREE LESSONS AND DEMONSTRATIONS EVERY FRIDAY IN JUNE IN MARKET SQUARE

The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and the Pittsburgh Chapter of USA Dance will once again bring Ballroom Dancing to Market Square every Friday throughout June. From 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Dancing in the Square will feature free ballroom dancing instruction, as well as performances by students and professionals from local dance studios.

“We look forward to welcoming aspiring Freds & Gingers back to Market Square this June,” said Jeremy Waldrup, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. “We appreciate the support and enthusiasm of our partners, USA Dance over the last two years. Together, we produce a fun series of events that serve as a great kick-off to the weekend, providing fun, free entertainment in the center of the city.”

Each week of Dancing in the Square will feature lessons by a different local instructor, danceable music, and performances by local dance teams and studios. In addition to traditional ballroom dances, favorite group dances such as the Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, and Mambo Line Dance will be taught and danced each week.

“I love Dancing in the Square - I see a lot of people from all over Pittsburgh who are down there for their jobs, just getting off for the weekend, out in the (hopefully) nice weather enjoying ballroom dance. There are always a bunch of little kids who are instantly curious what's going on, and some of the braver ones try to join in. It's a great vibe; very ambassadorial and friendly,” said Norrie Bastedo Vladuchick of USA Dance, Pittsburgh.

The Dancing in the Square schedule is as follows:

June 5
David & Ashley Geidel, Master Franchisees, from the Arthur Murray Downtown Dance Center will lead dances to tunes from Brian Lee. USA Dancing Classes will perform.

June 12
Chris Roth will lead the dances, John Siefken will provide the tunes, and YES YOU CAN DANCE will perform.

June 19
Absolute Ballroom will perform and lead us in dance while John Siefken will bring the tunes. Bill Ford and the Detroit Urban Dancers will also join us, highlighting their unique style of dance.

June 26
Adam Glatz of Art & Style Studio will lead and perform while John Siefken brings the tunes.
