The Western Pennsylvania/West Virginia Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will host a dinner featuring rare and hard to find bourbons to be held on Friday, January 6th, 2016 starting at 6:30 p.m. at The Carlton, Pittsburgh, PA. This event includes dinner designed by the culinary inspirations of Executive Chef of the Carlton, Simon DeJohn, which is to be paired with six rare bourbons hardly found anywhere else. Some of the bourbons to be included in the selection are Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve, Orphan Barrel Old Blowhard, and Brooker’s Rye “Big Time Batch”, which was awarded 2016 World’s Whiskey of the Year. Each guests will also receive a commemorative bottle in a special locker. Amy Katz, the young woman “Amy’s Army” has been developed to help find a bone marrow donor for ( ) will host this special event. Amy’s courageous battle with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia has been an inspiration to so many. The day she was diagnosed she made the travel soccer team at Jefferson Middle School in Mt. Lebanon. Her treatments may have taken her off the team but certainly have not broken her spirit or kept her off the field supporting her team.
